Calling Strong Musicians!
North Oakland Concert Band has openings! We are a dedicated community group of musicians from all over Southeast Michigan who enjoy playing challenging music together (level 4.5 - 6). Our repertoire consists of concert band classics, modern masters, and up-and-comers. To celebrate our hard work, we end each season with a “fun” concert of crowd-pleasers.
The band rehearses every Thursday during the school year from 7:30-9:30pm at Lake Orion High School’s band room. Most concerts are early evening on a Sunday.
Typically, prospective members are welcomed at the start of a concert cycle. Candidates are invited to sit in for the first few rehearsals to assess a mutual fit. From there, they finish out the semester with an additional check in after their next concert. Once this probationary period is complete, candidates become full members of the band.

As a community band, we rely on member dues ($40/semester) and patron donations. Our expenses range from rehearsal room rental to music purchases to paying guest artists to our scholarship program for graduating high school seniors.
