Small Ensembles, Big Sound
Beyond the full concert band, NOCB musicians come together in a variety of small ensembles that offer a different way to experience live music. With fewer musicians on stage, each instrument has a chance to shine, creating an intimate performance that highlights the individual talent found throughout the band.
Small ensemble music also gives NOCB musicians the opportunity to explore repertoire and styles that may not be heard during a traditional concert band performance. Different combinations of instruments create their own distinctive sounds, allowing audiences to experience familiar members of the woodwind, brass, and percussion families in an entirely new way.
Each spring, NOCB showcases this side of the band during its annual Spring Musicale. The benefit concert features small ensembles made up of NOCB members and friends performing a variety of works in a relaxed, casual setting.
NOCB small ensembles are also available to book, bringing live music to community gatherings, celebrations, and special events throughout the area. Their smaller size makes these groups a versatile option for settings where a full concert band may not be possible, while still sharing the musicianship and personality of NOCB.
